Google Pay is an online payment system that’s accepted in more than a million stores, so it’s completely legit to ask a question like ”does Home Depot take Google Pay?” Considering it’s one of the greatest spots for people who want to do a DIY project at home, it’s more than important to have the right answer and know whether your favorite payment method is accepted at Home Depot.
Home Depot customers can’t use the Google Pay mobile payment method. However, Samsung Pay is one of the accepted contactless methods in most Home Depot stores. Home Depot customers can also pay with cash, PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, and Amex.
I did some research, so read on if you want to find out more about Home Depot’s payment methods, whether it’s an online or in-store purchase.
Being easy-to-use, Google Pay shortly became one of the favorite ways of paying for many people. Not only because it’s contactless but also because it can be used with your Android phone, watch, and tablet. In fact, you can imagine it as a contactless debit/credit card, such as MasterCard, American Express Visa, Discover.
Unfortunately, Home Depot doesn’t accept Google Pay as one of the paying options. And many people wonder why that is since this is a simple, safe and convenient way of paying for goods. In other words, this method would represent a fundamental change in the customer purchasing experience. Although the traditional way is proved to work just fine, an innovation like this could bring numerous benefits to a retail chain such as Home Depot.
Shopping at Home Depot won’t change much if you have Google Pay. In fact, there was never a Google Pay payment option at Home Depot despite its announcement of possible implementation in 2015. And it’s quite strange it has never come to fruition since numerous customers wished precisely for the Google Pay method.
Wondering whether Home Depot is expensive, you might come across a question like ”why can’t you pay with Google Pay at its stores?” The answer isn’t quite clear since many stores have already implemented several other contactless payment methods. For example, you can pay for goods with Samsung Pay, but not with Google Pay.
And the even stranger thing is that Home Depot’s card machines support Google Pay. Many people consider it one of the main reasons being the exclusive partnership between PayPal and Home Depot.
Home Depot payment methods are many. However, if you have an Android device, you won’t be able to use Google Pay. But, it’s interesting to mention that many stores in different locations across the country have already set the contactless payment, precisely like Google Pay is. But, somehow, it’s not implemented yet.
On the other hand, I have to be fair and say that Home Depot has many different payment methods for shoppers. Whether it’s contactless or not, don’t let the lack of the Google Pay method keep you away from great shopping you’ll surely have at Home Depot. So, check out what methods are actually accepted in Home Depot stores.

How to Use Samsung Pay at Home Depot for Your Payment?
Although you can’t make a purchase and pay it with Google Pay, that shouldn’t have any impact on your opinion of Home Depot. It’s one of the largest home improvement retailers in the country, and you can be sure that Home Depot is legit. But, what contactless options do customers actually have when it comes to the paying part?
Instead of Google Pay, you can try using Samsung Pay. This is a digital wallet and mobile payment service issued by Samsung Electronics. It lets customers make payments by using compatible phones and other Samsung-produced devices. Here are the steps you need to take in order to make a purchase at Home Depot with this service:
- Download the Samsung pay on your smartphone,
- Follow the instructions you’ll get on the app and add your debit and credit payment cards,
- When you’re ready to make the purchase, simply click on the installed app,
- Press the ”pay” button,
- Select one of the cards you updated before,
- Choose whether you’ll enter your IRIS or PIN to confirm that it is you,
- Additionally, you can use the fingerprint ID scanner if it’s already connected and scan your fingerprint as a security confirmation,
- After these steps, tap the back of your smartphone phone on the contactless card reader.
I personally use Google Pay whenever I can because it’s easy, safe, and effortless. However, when I go to the Home Depot (which is pretty often), I need to use other payment methods. But, it’s not like there’s no contactless paying at all. In fact, there’s Samsung Pay which is a pretty good solution. And don’t forget the good old PayPal. So, whether you prefer online or in-store purchases, use PayPal or Samsung Pay instead of Google Pay.
